What activities are there in the area for us to enjoy?

This area is popular for outdoor activities including hiking, rafting, kayaking, tubing, fishing, horseback riding, and sightseeing. Each cabin includes a guide with an extensive list of outdoor activities and sights to see in the mountains of Western NC. Plus, we are always adding information to our Things to Do page. You won't be bored here unless you want to be, and for some folks that's exactly why they come... just to kick back and relax!
What is the weather like in different seasons?

Warm weather brings wildflowers, lightning bugs, and nature lovers. Although it can be hot in the summer, evenings do cool off and you may be content having the windows open. Fall is a very popular season here because of the brilliant colors of the changing leaves and the cooler temperatures. Winters are usually mild, but we do occasionally get a few inches of snow. Snow covered mountains and trees are a beautiful site!
What should we bring?

If you do not plan to eat out, you should consider stopping at a grocery store on the way. Bring clothing appropriate for the season but be prepared with a sweater or jacket for cooler evenings, even in the summer. We also suggest wearing flat, comfortable shoes.

We supply salt & pepper and some seasonings, all paper products, and plant based body wash, shampoo, and conditioner.
Where is the nearest grocery store?

Limited grocery items, and some take and bake meals, are available Trust General Store and Cafe, in Trust NC (4 miles south of our cabins), or the Dollar General, Hillbilly Market, and Vaste Riviere Provisions in Hot Springs NC (10 miles north of our cabins). The full-service grocery stores (Publix, Ingles Market, Harris Teeter, Whole Foods, Food Lion, or Wal-Mart) are all 45 minutes to 1 hour or more away, so you definitely want to plan ahead.
Can we purchase beer or wine in the area?

Our cabins are located in Madison County which is a dry county. Beer and wine are available at most restaurants and stores within the town of Hot Springs (10 miles north of our cabins). You may also purchase beer, wine, and liquor in the city of Asheville, or the larger towns of Waynesville, Weaverville, and Maggie Valley. Of course, if you are of legal age, you are welcome to bring your own.
How far are the cabins from the nearest town or city?

Our cabins are approximately 10 miles to the quaint and historic town of Hot Springs NC, 30 miles to beautiful downtown Waynesville NC, and less than 35 miles from the vibrant city of Asheville NC.
Where is the closest airport?

Asheville Regional Airport is approximately 45 miles from our cabins. Driving time will be about 1 hour and 15 minutes due to the mountainous terrain.
Will we need a 4-wheel drive vehicle?

Our property is generally easy to access year-round. The cabins are located at the top of a private, single-lane gravel road--with possible two-way traffic. The road is well maintained but does have a steady incline and is approximately 1/3 mile from the state maintained paved road. A 2-wheel drive vehicle can easily climb the hill, but it may be difficult for motorcyclists and some drivers.

Although we typically get less than 15 inches total accumulation of snow a year, a 4-wheel drive/all-wheel drive vehicle is recommended, and MAY BE NECCESARY during the winter months. If you're planning a trip here in the winter, it's best to monitor the weather closely.
What are your cleaning procedures?

The cabins are thoroughly cleaned between each stay. This includes removing and replacing all linens, cleaning and disinfecting high-touch hard surfaces--with special attention given to the kitchen and bathroom, vacuuming all soft surfaces, and removing accumulated trash and recyclables.

Also, the hot tubs are drained, cleaned, and refilled with fresh spring water before re-heating. A clean filter is inserted, and the water is treated to adjust and balance the pH, alkalinity, and water hardness. The water is then shocked and sanitized using CDC recommended and EPA approved products.

We personally inspect each cabin prior to our guests' arrival to ensure it meets our high standards.
Are we expected to clean before we checkout?

Normal usage is expected. Before you check out, please wash the dishes, glasses, etc. that were used and leave the bed unmade. Place all used towels in the hamper or leave wet towels hanging on the hooks in the bathroom or in the shower pan. Dispose of trash in proper receptacles. You may incur additional charges if excessive cleaning is required for an unusual mess or if any items are damaged or missing.
